Virginia Giuffre’s Family Reacts After Trump Claims Jeffrey Epstein ‘Stole’ Her from Mar-a-Lago

The family of the late Virginia Giuffre has voiced strong dismay and called for greater transparency following President Donald Trump’s public statement that Jeffrey Epstein “stole” Giuffre from his Mar-a-Lago resort. In remarks made on Air Force One in late July 2025, Trump described how his relationship with Epstein soured after the financier allegedly recruited young women employed at the club’s spa, explicitly naming Giuffre as one of them.

Trump explained that he became upset when Epstein “took people out of the spa, hired by him. In other words, gone,” adding that after it happened multiple times, he banned Epstein from the property. When pressed on whether Giuffre — who worked as a locker room attendant at Mar-a-Lago in 2000 at age 16 — was among those poached, Trump confirmed, “I think she worked at the spa. I think so. I think that was one of the people. He stole her.” He emphasized that Giuffre “had no complaints about us, as you know, none whatsoever.”

Giuffre, a leading voice in exposing Epstein’s sex trafficking ring and who accused Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell of recruiting her at the club, died by suicide in April 2025 at age 41 in Western Australia. Her allegations detailed being trafficked and abused, though she never accused Trump of misconduct and described him as friendly in limited interactions.

In response, Giuffre’s stepbrothers — Sky Roberts and Daniel Williams — along with their wives, Amanda Roberts and Lanette Wilson, issued a joint statement expressing shock. “It was shocking to hear President Trump invoke our sister and say that he was aware that Virginia had been ‘stolen’ from Mar-a-Lago,” the family said. They questioned whether Trump had knowledge of Epstein and Maxwell’s criminal activities at the time, particularly citing his later 2002 comment describing Epstein as liking “women on the younger side … no doubt about it.”

The relatives clarified that Giuffre was not merely “stolen” in a benign employment sense but was targeted and preyed upon by Maxwell while working at the resort. They urged the administration to release more Epstein-related files, stating, “We and the public are asking for answers; survivors deserve this.” In interviews, family members, including Amanda Roberts, highlighted the inappropriate framing of trafficking victims as property being taken, emphasizing the need for justice over minimization.

Trump’s comments came amid ongoing scrutiny of his past ties to Epstein, including social events and flights, though no evidence has linked him to criminal acts in the case. The White House described the remarks as a direct response to reporters’ questions. Giuffre’s family has continued advocating for accountability, including calls against any potential clemency for Maxwell and support for broader reforms in handling sex trafficking cases.

This episode has reignited discussions about elite connections to Epstein’s network and the importance of believing survivors. Giuffre’s relatives remain dedicated to honoring her legacy by pushing for full disclosure and systemic change, ensuring her courageous testimony continues to drive efforts toward justice for all victims.
