Jeffrey Epstein’s own 2011 email bluntly confirms what Prince Andrew long denied: yes Virginia Giuffre was photographed with him, shattering years of claims the image was doctored.

In a stunning development from newly unsealed documents released in November 2025 by the U.S. House Oversight Committee, a July 2011 email from Jeffrey Epstein directly acknowledges the authenticity of the infamous 2001 photograph showing then-Prince Andrew with his arm around 17-year-old Virginia Giuffre, alongside Ghislaine Maxwell. Epstein, who allegedly took the photo himself in Maxwell’s London home, wrote: “Yes she [Giuffre] was on my plane and yes she had her picture taken with Andrew, as many of my employees have.”

This admission starkly contradicts Andrew’s repeated assertions that he had no recollection of meeting Giuffre and suggestions that the image—central to her allegations of sexual assault—might have been manipulated. In his disastrous 2019 BBC Newsnight interview, Andrew stated he had “no memory” of the photograph being taken and questioned its veracity, noting details like his attire and hand placement as potential signs of doctoring.

The photo, first published in February 2011 alongside Giuffre’s initial public accusations, depicts Andrew smiling with his arm around Giuffre’s waist in what she described as the prelude to coerced sexual encounters. Giuffre, trafficked by Epstein and Maxwell, alleged three instances of abuse involving Andrew, claims he has always denied. The pair settled her 2021 civil lawsuit out of court in 2022 for an undisclosed sum, with no admission of liability.

Epstein’s email, sent amid efforts to manage emerging scandals, also reveals attempts to discredit Giuffre, calling her a “liar” whose accusations could “easily be proven” false. Yet his confirmation of the photo’s existence undermines those defenses. Additional correspondence shows Andrew, using an alias like “The Duke,” pleading with Epstein and Maxwell in March 2011 to deny involvement as media scrutiny intensified—months after he claimed to have severed ties following Epstein’s 2008 conviction.

Giuffre, who tragically died by suicide in April 2025 at age 41, detailed her ordeal in her posthumous memoir Nobody’s Girl. Her courage exposed Epstein’s network, contributing to Maxwell’s 2022 conviction. Though Andrew—stripped of royal titles in October 2025—maintains innocence, these revelations intensify calls for transparency, including U.S. congressional invitations for him to testify.

Epstein’s words from 2011 cut through years of evasion: the photo is real, the meeting happened. As the Epstein saga endures, this evidence reinforces survivors’ truths over powerful denials, demanding
