In a stunning escalation of the ongoing Jeffrey Epstein scandal, the family of the late Virginia Giuffre has publicly broken with President Donald Trump, expressing profound shock and outrage over his recent characterization of her recruitment into Epstein’s trafficking network.
Giuffre, who died by suicide in April 2025 at age 41, was one of Epstein’s most prominent accusers. She alleged that Ghislaine Maxwell recruited her as a teenager from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in 2000, leading to years of sexual abuse.
Speaking aboard Air Force One in July 2025, Trump claimed he banned Epstein from the club after the financier repeatedly “stole” young female employees from the spa, specifically identifying Giuffre as one of them. “He stole her,” Trump said, framing the incident as employee poaching that prompted their fallout.
Giuffre’s family swiftly rejected this portrayal in a public statement, calling it “shocking” and dehumanizing. “She wasn’t stolen; she was preyed upon at President Trump’s property,” her brother Sky Roberts told reporters, emphasizing that Maxwell targeted the then-16-year-old Giuffre. The family argued Trump’s language reduced a trafficking victim to an object, stating, “Stolen seems very impersonal… survivors are not objects.”
They further questioned Trump’s awareness of Epstein and Maxwell’s activities, noting his 2002 praise of Epstein as a “terrific guy” who liked women “on the younger side.” The family demanded full release of remaining Epstein files and urged no pardon for Maxwell, serving 20 years for sex trafficking, calling her a “monster who deserves to rot in prison.”
Trump’s team insisted he acted decisively by expelling Epstein and has never been accused of wrongdoing. Yet the family’s vocal criticism marks a sharp turn, amplifying calls for transparency amid renewed scrutiny of Trump’s Epstein ties as more documents surface.
