Gloria: Sharon Stone’s Remake Role
In 1999, Sharon Stone took on one of her most ambitious and challenging roles in Sidney Lumet’s remake of John Cassavetes’ 1980 cult classic Gloria. Stepping into the shoes of Gena Rowlands, who earned an Oscar nomination for the original, Stone portrayed Gloria Swenson — a tough, street-smart ex-con with a sharp tongue and a hidden heart of gold.
