Epstein Assistant’s FBI Claim: Jeffrey Epstein Brokered Introduction Between Melania Knauss and Donald Trump
According to newly unsealed portions of the Epstein Files released in 2026, one of Jeffrey Epstein’s longtime assistants provided the FBI with a detailed account alleging that Epstein personally facilitated the initial meeting between Melania Knauss (now Melania Trump) and Donald Trump in the mid-1990s through New York’s high-fashion modeling scene.

The assistant, whose identity remains redacted in public documents for safety reasons, reportedly told investigators during a 2009 interview that Epstein—long known for his extensive network among models, photographers, and wealthy patrons—arranged for Melania to attend a New York Fashion Week event or related social gathering where Trump was present. The statement describes Epstein as acting as a “connector,” leveraging his relationships with modeling agencies and event organizers to position young women from Eastern Europe, including Melania, in front of influential men in business, entertainment, and politics.
The assistant claimed Epstein viewed such introductions as mutually beneficial: models gained access to powerful figures who could advance their careers, while the men received companionship or networking opportunities in glamorous settings. The account does not allege any wrongdoing by Melania or suggest coercion in her specific case; instead, it frames the introduction as part of Epstein’s broader pattern of curating social circles that mixed beauty, ambition, and elite influence. Melania Knauss, who arrived in New York in 1996 on a modeling contract, met Donald Trump publicly at a 1998 New York Fashion Week party hosted by Paolo Zampolli, founder of Metropolitan Models. Trump has consistently maintained that their meeting occurred organically through that event, with no mention of Epstein’s involvement.
This FBI 302 form excerpt has reignited speculation about the depth of Epstein’s ties to Trump during the 1990s and early 2000s. Flight logs already show Trump took at least seven trips on Epstein’s private jet between 1993 and 1997, mostly short hops between Palm Beach and New York or Atlantic City. Epstein and Trump were photographed together at Mar-a-Lago events, and Trump once described Epstein in a 2002 New York Magazine interview as a “terrific guy” who liked “beautiful women… on the younger side.” Both men later distanced themselves, with Trump banning Epstein from Mar-a-Lago around 2007 after an alleged incident involving a member’s daughter.
The assistant’s statement adds another layer to the Epstein files’ portrait of a financier who positioned himself as an indispensable middleman in elite social and professional spheres. While no criminal charges have ever been filed against Trump related to Epstein’s crimes, and Melania has never been implicated in any wrongdoing, the claim underscores how deeply Epstein’s orbit overlapped with prominent figures across decades.
As millions more pages continue to be parsed, advocates—including Virginia Giuffre’s family—point to revelations like this as evidence that the network was far more interconnected and systemic than previously acknowledged. The family’s ongoing criticism of the DOJ’s “slow drip” process highlights their belief that every detail, no matter how tangential, deserves full public scrutiny to honor survivors and prevent future abuse.
