Do Virginia Giuffre’s Final Words Hold the Key to Unanswered Questions?

Virginia Giuffre, born Virginia Roberts, remains one of the most influential voices in exposing the Jeffrey Epstein sex-trafficking network. Her extensive court statements, notably the 2016 deposition from her defamation suit against Ghislaine Maxwell, delivered an intimate, disturbing portrait of prolonged grooming and exploitation. Recently, her family’s release of previously unseen handwritten notes has added a deeply personal layer to her legacy, offering raw reflections from her final years that many interpret as a quiet call for continued justice.

Giuffre described being recruited in the summer of 2000 at age 16 while working at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach. While taking a break and studying a massage therapy book, she encountered Maxwell, who proposed a role as a traveling masseuse for Epstein. Giuffre recounted how this seemingly promising chance quickly led to her first visit to Epstein’s Palm Beach home. There, Maxwell supposedly guided her through a massage that evolved into sexual involvement with both Epstein and Maxwell.

She alleged that between roughly 1999 and 2002, she was moved between Epstein’s residences in New York, Palm Beach, New Mexico’s Zorro Ranch, Little St. James island, and Paris. According to her testimony, she was positioned as Epstein’s “sex slave,” expected to satisfy his daily demands and provide services to his powerful connections, often receiving payment. Giuffre spoke of traveling on Epstein’s private jet—the so-called “Lolita Express”—and observing the recruitment of other young girls.

Her claims about Britain’s Prince Andrew drew particular attention. Giuffre stated she was directed to him on three occasions at age 17, most notably during a 2001 trip to London. She recalled meeting at Maxwell’s residence, dancing at Tramp nightclub, and subsequent intimate acts. The widely circulated photo of her with Prince Andrew and Maxwell, supposedly captured by Epstein, served as important supporting material. Prince Andrew has always denied the accusations, and the civil case concluded in 2022 with a confidential settlement and no admission of wrongdoing.

In addition, Giuffre identified other prominent men she was allegedly instructed to engage with sexually, such as modeling scout Jean-Luc Brunel, financier Glenn Dubin, and ex-New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson. Her deposition painted Maxwell as the key figure who groomed and desensitized victims, while Epstein appeared driven by relentless sexual expectations.

Giuffre’s narrative encountered strong opposition. Maxwell branded her dishonest, and Giuffre eventually retracted a claim involving lawyer Alan Dershowitz due to possible mistaken identity. Doubters highlighted certain timeline discrepancies, yet several aspects matched flight records, images, and statements from other witnesses, including Johanna Sjoberg.

Her determination helped maintain focus on the case, supporting Maxwell’s 2021 conviction and multiple document disclosures. Giuffre established the group Victims Refuse Silence (later renamed SOAR) to assist fellow survivors. She passed away by suicide on April 25, 2025, at age 41 in Western Australia.

Following her death, family members discovered and shared portions of her handwritten notes from journals. In one poignant passage, she wrote: “Mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers need to show the battlelines are drawn and we stand together to fight for the future of victims. Is protesting the answer—I don’t know, but we’ve got to start somewhere.” These words, released by her sister-in-law Amanda Roberts, have been viewed by supporters as a lasting message urging collective action against abuse.

Though Epstein ended his life in 2019 while awaiting trial, Giuffre’s testimony and final reflections continue to spotlight the influence of wealth in shielding exploitation and the enduring strength of survivors seeking truth.
