A teenage Virginia Giuffre’s heart raced as Ghislaine Maxwell’s smile turned predatory, luring her from Mar-a-Lago’s spa into Jeffrey Epstein’s dark empire of sex trafficking and abuse.
It was summer 2000. Giuffre, then 16, worked as a spa attendant at Donald Trump’s Palm Beach resort, dreaming of escape from a troubled childhood. Maxwell, elegant and British-accented, approached her by the pool while she read a massage therapy book. “You’d be perfect,” Maxwell said, complimenting her looks and promising training with her “friend” Jeffrey—a billionaire who “helps girls like you.”
Giuffre, vulnerable and ambitious, accepted. The first visit to Epstein’s mansion seemed innocuous: $200 for a massage. But Maxwell’s smile shifted—predatory—as she instructed Giuffre to undress Epstein, then touch him. “It’s just massage,” Maxwell normalized, her presence ensuring compliance. Giuffre’s memoir Nobody’s Girl (October 21, 2025) recounts the descent: trafficked to New York, the island, London—alleged assaults by Prince Andrew at 17 (three times), a “well-known prime minister” rape in 2002. “Maxwell was the lure,” Giuffre wrote. “Her smile hid the trap.”
