A stunned America froze as New York Times investigative reporter Nicholas Confessore dissected the once-cozy bond between Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein: “These two men were chasing women and chasing sex all the time.”
Confessore’s remarks came in a December 20, 2025, episode of The Daily podcast, analyzing the final Epstein Files Transparency Act release (December 19) and resurfaced 1992 footage of Trump and Epstein partying at Mar-a-Lago with NFL cheerleaders. “They were mirrors of each other,” Confessore said, voice steady but edged with disbelief. “Two New York dealmakers in the ’80s and ’90s—Trump the tabloid king, Epstein the mysterious financier—bonded over wealth, access, and women. Trump’s 2002 quote calling Epstein a ‘terrific guy’ who likes them ‘on the younger side’ wasn’t offhand; it reflected their shared world.”
The podcast highlighted Trump’s pre-2000 flights on Epstein’s jet, mutual Mar-a-Lago circle (Giuffre recruited there at 16), and Epstein’s 2011 email claiming Trump “knew about the girls.” Confessore noted Trump’s eventual ban of Epstein (circa 2007–2008) over alleged inappropriate behavior, but stressed the “cozy” years: “Chasing women, chasing sex—all the time.”
