Virginia Giuffre’s Family Shocked by Trump’s Claim That Epstein ‘Stole’ Her from Mar-a-Lago
The family of Virginia Giuffre expressed deep shock and concern after President Donald Trump described her as having been “stolen” from his Mar-a-Lago resort by Jeffrey Epstein. In remarks made aboard Air Force One on July 29, 2025, Trump recounted how his relationship with Epstein soured when the financier allegedly recruited young women employed at the club’s spa. He specifically referenced Giuffre, who worked as a locker room attendant there in 2000 at age 16, stating, “I think she worked at the spa. I think so. I think that was one of the people. He stole her.”
Trump framed the incident as a repeated pattern: “People were taken out of the spa, hired by him. In other words, gone.” He added that after multiple instances, he banned Epstein from the property. He emphasized that Giuffre “had no complaints about us, as you know, none whatsoever,” appearing to distinguish his own interactions from Epstein’s actions.
Giuffre, who died by suicide in April 2025 at age 41 in Western Australia, had long maintained that Ghislaine Maxwell approached her at Mar-a-Lago under the pretense of job opportunities, leading to her introduction to Epstein and subsequent years of trafficking and abuse. She never accused Trump of misconduct and described limited, non-abusive encounters with him in depositions and her memoir Nobody’s Girl.
Her stepbrothers Sky Roberts and Daniel Williams, along with sisters-in-law Amanda Roberts and Lanette Wilson, issued a joint statement in response to Trump’s comments: “It was shocking to hear President Trump invoke our sister and say that he was aware that Virginia had been ‘stolen’ from Mar-a-Lago.” The family questioned what knowledge Trump may have had at the time of her recruitment and what prompted him to use such language years later. They argued that describing a trafficking victim as “stolen” in an employment context minimizes the predatory grooming and exploitation she endured.
Amanda Roberts, in particular, highlighted the inappropriate framing in media interviews, noting that Giuffre was targeted and preyed upon while working at the resort, not simply “taken” as an employee. The relatives reiterated their long-standing calls for full transparency in Epstein-related investigations, including the release of any remaining documents, alleged hidden camera footage, and other evidence that could clarify the scope of the network.
Trump’s statement came amid ongoing public and congressional scrutiny of Epstein’s connections to prominent figures, including partial file releases under the Epstein Files Transparency Act. He has consistently distanced himself from Epstein’s crimes, pointing to the Mar-a-Lago ban as evidence of his disapproval. No credible evidence has linked Trump to Epstein’s criminal activities, and Giuffre’s own accounts supported this.
The family’s reaction underscores their enduring commitment to honoring Giuffre’s legacy as an advocate who fought for survivor justice and accountability. They view Trump’s remarks as raising new questions about awareness among elites connected to Epstein, even peripherally, and have urged continued pressure for answers. As debates over the Epstein saga persist, Giuffre’s relatives remain focused on ensuring her courageous testimony drives meaningful reform and prevents similar exploitation.
