Virginia Giuffre’s Family Hails Prince Andrew’s Stripping of Royal Titles as a Long-Awaited Victory
In a powerful and emotional response, the family of the late Virginia Giuffre has celebrated the dramatic removal of Prince Andrew’s royal titles and privileges by King Charles III. The decision, announced in late October 2025, marked an unprecedented step in British royal history, stripping the former prince of his “Prince” designation, along with other honors, and requiring him to vacate his residence at Royal Lodge in Windsor. He is now formally known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.

Giuffre, a key accuser in the Jeffrey Epstein sex-trafficking scandal, alleged that she was sexually abused by Andrew when she was a teenager after being trafficked by Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. Andrew has always denied the allegations, and the matter was settled out of court in 2022 with no admission of liability. Giuffre tragically died by suicide in April 2025 at age 41, but her posthumous memoir, Nobody’s Girl, released shortly before the title removal, renewed public scrutiny and pressure on the royal family.
Her brother, Sky Roberts, along with his wife Amanda Roberts, issued a heartfelt statement expressing profound pride in Virginia’s enduring impact. They described the moment as one where “an ordinary American girl from an ordinary American family brought down a British prince with her truth and extraordinary courage.” They emphasized that Virginia, who was assaulted as a child, “never stopped fighting for accountability” not just for herself, but for countless other survivors of sexual abuse and trafficking.
In interviews, including with BBC Newsnight, Sky Roberts became emotional while reflecting on the news. “She is celebrating from the heavens right now saying ‘I did it,'” he said, adding that this “normal girl from a normal family has taken down the prince.” He noted it was “unprecedented in history” and a source of immense pride for the family and Virginia’s “survivor sisters.”
The family’s reaction underscored a sense of vindication after years of struggle. They vowed to continue the fight for justice, highlighting how Virginia’s persistence had contributed to broader accountability in high-profile cases involving powerful figures. While the title stripping and eviction from Royal Lodge represented a significant fall from grace for Andrew—capped by further formal removals of lingering honors in subsequent months—the family viewed it as a direct legacy of Virginia’s bravery and advocacy.
This development came amid ongoing fallout from Epstein-related revelations, including renewed calls for Andrew to face further questions about his associations. Giuffre’s family has consistently framed these events as steps toward ensuring no one, not even royalty, is above the law—a sentiment echoed in later statements following additional legal actions against Andrew in 2026.
Virginia Giuffre’s courage in speaking out inspired many survivors and helped expose systemic failures in protecting vulnerable individuals from exploitation. Her family’s celebration reflects not just personal closure, but a broader triumph for the cause she championed throughout her life. Though her loss remains deeply felt, they see this as her declaring victory from beyond, a testament to the power of truth and resilience in the face of adversity.
