Once a secluded paradise hosting the world’s most powerful figures, Jeffrey Epstein’s private island now reveals structures and spaces that still whisper of its darkest past.

Little St. James, a 72-acre jewel in the U.S. Virgin Islands, was purchased by Epstein in 1998 for $7.95 million. He transformed it into a luxurious retreat, complete with a sprawling stone mansion, guest villas, pools, a helipad, private beaches, and a gym. The most enigmatic feature was a blue-and-white striped “temple” structure with a golden dome—originally permitted as a music pavilion but built differently, fueling endless speculation. Victims alleged it concealed underground areas, though its true purpose remains debated.

Epstein entertained elites here: former presidents Bill Clinton and Donald Trump (though neither confirmed visits tied to abuse), Prince Andrew, scientists like Stephen Hawking, and celebrities. Flight logs and photos place many on his jets or nearby, but the island’s isolation enabled alleged horrors. Dozens of underage girls were reportedly trafficked here, coerced into sexual acts amid opulent surroundings.

After Epstein’s 2019 suicide, the FBI raided the island. In 2023, billionaire Stephen Deckoff bought Little St. James and neighboring Great St. James for $60 million, planning a 25-room luxury resort opening in 2025. However, as of late 2025, development has been delayed—no major planning applications submitted, with only modest new structures visible via satellite.

Recent 2025 releases by House Democrats unveiled interior photos and videos: empty bedrooms with stacked furniture, a library with a grand piano, a makeshift dental office, and exteriors showing the enduring mansion and temple. These images, taken post-2019, underscore the site’s lingering aura of secrecy and trauma.

Today, the island stands mostly unchanged—a silent testament to unchecked power. While redevelopment looms, its structures continue to evoke the victims’ stories, ensuring the darkest whispers persist.
