Trump Claims Jeffrey Epstein ‘Stole’ Young Women from Mar-a-Lago Spa, Including Virginia Giuffre
President Donald Trump has stated that his falling out with Jeffrey Epstein stemmed from the financier allegedly “stealing” young women who worked at the spa in his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida. In comments made aboard Air Force One on July 29, 2025, Trump elaborated on earlier remarks, confirming that one of those individuals was Virginia Giuffre, the prominent Epstein accuser who died by suicide in April 2025 at age 41.
Trump recounted how Epstein repeatedly hired away spa employees: “People were taken out of the spa, hired by him. In other words, gone.” He said that after it happened multiple times, he confronted Epstein and banned him from the property. When asked if the poached workers included young women, Trump replied affirmatively, noting they were “hired out of the spa.” Pressed specifically about Giuffre — who worked as a locker room attendant at Mar-a-Lago in 2000 at age 16 — Trump said, “I think she worked at the spa. I think so. I think that was one of the people. He stole her.” He added, “And by the way, she had no complaints about us, as you know, none whatsoever.”
Giuffre had long alleged that Ghislaine Maxwell recruited her at Mar-a-Lago, leading to her introduction to Epstein and subsequent trafficking and abuse. Court documents and her memoir describe the transition from legitimate employment to exploitation, with Maxwell approaching her under the guise of job opportunities. Giuffre never accused Trump of wrongdoing and described limited, friendly interactions with him.
The remarks drew sharp reactions from Giuffre’s family. Stepbrothers Sky Roberts and Daniel Williams, along with sisters-in-law Amanda Roberts and Lanette Wilson, issued a joint statement expressing shock: “It was shocking to hear President Trump invoke our sister and say that he was aware that Virginia had been ‘stolen’ from Mar-a-Lago.” They argued the framing minimized the predatory nature of the recruitment, emphasizing that Giuffre was “preyed upon” at the resort rather than merely “stolen” in an employment sense. The family called for further release of Epstein-related files and urged no clemency for Maxwell, who remains imprisoned.
Trump’s comments came amid ongoing scrutiny of Epstein connections, including partial document releases and congressional oversight. He has repeatedly distanced himself from Epstein’s crimes, noting the ban from Mar-a-Lago predated Epstein’s 2008 conviction. No evidence has implicated Trump in Epstein’s criminal activities, and Giuffre’s accounts supported this in depositions and her writings.
The episode has reignited debates over elite networks, survivor experiences, and accountability. Giuffre’s relatives continue advocating for transparency, viewing her story as a reminder of systemic vulnerabilities that allowed exploitation to occur. Trump’s acknowledgment of Giuffre’s presence at his club and Epstein’s role in her recruitment has added a new layer to the long-running Epstein saga, prompting renewed calls for full disclosure of related evidence.
