Prince Andrew’s Privileged World Collapses Under the Weight of His Past

The once-impenetrable shield surrounding Prince Andrew is fracturing, worn away by the consequences of his own choices and associations, according to Amy Wallace, co-author of Virginia Giuffre’s powerful posthumous memoir.

This blunt assessment arrives alongside the release of excerpts from Giuffre’s unpublished manuscript, Nobody’s Girl: A Memoir of Surviving Abuse and Fighting for Justice, obtained exclusively by the BBC. Completed shortly before Giuffre’s death by suicide in April 2025 at the age of 41, the book delivers raw, unfiltered recollections of her alleged exploitation by Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, including serious accusations directed at the Duke of York.

Wallace, who worked intimately with Giuffre throughout the writing process, told BBC Newsnight and other outlets that despite Prince Andrew’s repeated denials, “his life is being eroded because of his past behaviour, as it should be.” She pointed out that the prince has never fully cooperated with authorities by providing details about what he observed during his documented visits to Epstein’s private island, Little St. James, or aboard the financier’s private jet—opportunities he once appeared open to but never acted upon.

The memoir revisits Giuffre’s claims of being trafficked as a minor and coerced into sexual encounters with powerful men in Epstein’s orbit. Among the most explosive passages are those describing three alleged meetings with Prince Andrew, including one she portrayed as taking place during what she called an “orgy” on Epstein’s Caribbean island involving several underage girls. Giuffre wrote that the Duke behaved “as if having sex with me was his birthright,” reflecting a sense of entitlement she found chilling.

These renewed allegations arrive years after Andrew’s 2022 out-of-court settlement with Giuffre, in which he made no admission of guilt but paid a substantial sum to resolve her civil claim. The book’s publication has amplified existing pressure on the royal family, compounding the loss of military titles, public funding, and official royal duties that followed the settlement and his disastrous 2019 BBC interview.

Wallace stressed that the manuscript underwent extensive legal scrutiny and fact-checking, positioning it as a survivor’s carefully documented testimony rather than sensationalism. She called for the conversation to center on accountability and systemic failures that enabled Epstein’s network to thrive among the wealthy and influential for so long.

Prince Andrew continues to categorically deny any wrongdoing or knowledge of Epstein’s criminal activities. Sources close to Buckingham Palace have privately acknowledged that the resurfacing of these detailed allegations could prolong reputational damage for the monarchy.

With the release of Nobody’s Girl, Virginia Giuffre’s voice—now tragically silenced—resonates once more, compelling the public to confront uncomfortable questions about power, privilege, complicity, and justice in one of the most high-profile scandals of the modern era.
