In October 2025, the world was confronted with the unflinching voice of Virginia Roberts Giuffre through her posthumous memoir, Nobody’s Girl: A Memoir of Surviving Abuse and Fighting for Justice. Giuffre, who tragically took her own life in April 2025 at age 41, left behind a powerful testament co-written with journalist Amy Wallace. The book details her grooming and trafficking by Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, beginning when she was just 16 and working at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort.

Giuffre recounts being recruited by Maxwell, who promised opportunities in massage therapy, only to plunge her into a world of exploitation. She describes being trafficked to powerful men, including three alleged sexual encounters with Britain’s Prince Andrew—then the Duke of York—in London, New York, and on Epstein’s private island in the US Virgin Islands. One incident on the island involved what Giuffre called an “orgy” with Epstein and several other young women, many appearing underage and non-English speaking. Prince Andrew has consistently denied all allegations, settling a civil lawsuit with Giuffre in 2022 without admitting liability.

The memoir paints a chilling picture of Epstein’s infamous Little St. James island as a site of systematic abuse, where Giuffre feared she might “die a sex slave.” She alleges brutal encounters, including being beaten and raped by an unidentified “well-known prime minister,” and enduring sadomasochistic acts. Giuffre writes of the psychological toll, feeling humiliated and trapped amid displays of wealth and power.

Efforts to silence her story are implied in the book’s context: the 2022 settlement coincided with protections for the royal family, and Giuffre’s outspokenness led to intense scrutiny. Yet, she names enablers—assistants, guards, and elite guests—who turned a blind eye. The revelations have renewed pressure on figures like Andrew, who relinquished titles amid fallout.

Giuffre’s words expose a web of corruption shielding the powerful, while affirming her resilience in advocating for survivors. Her legacy endures, challenging institutions to confront decades of buried truths and protect the vulnerable.
