In “Nobody’s Girl,” Virginia Giuffre Recounts Years of Sexual Exploitation by Epstein, Maxwell, and Prince Andrew

Virginia Giuffre’s posthumous memoir, Nobody’s Girl, offers a stark and unflinching look at the sexual abuse and human trafficking she endured as a teenager under the control of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. The book, released following her death by suicide in April 2025, revisits the harrowing experiences that defined much of her public advocacy and legal battles.

Giuffre explains how, at sixteen, while employed at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, she first encountered Maxwell. The older woman approached her with an offer that sounded promising: the chance to train as a professional massage therapist under Epstein’s guidance, with the prospect of travel, education, and financial security. What followed instead was a carefully orchestrated descent into coercion and exploitation.

She describes Epstein as a calculating predator who used charm, wealth, and promises to ensnare vulnerable young women. Maxwell, presented as sophisticated and maternal, allegedly played the role of recruiter and facilitator, normalizing the abuse while maintaining an aura of control. Giuffre writes that she was soon directed to provide sexual services not only to Epstein but also to a circle of his powerful acquaintances.

One of the most prominent figures in her account is Prince Andrew, Duke of York at the time. Giuffre alleges that she was trafficked to him on three separate occasions between 2001 and 2002, when she was still a minor. The first alleged incident took place in London. She recalls Maxwell preparing her for the evening with enthusiasm, framing the meeting as an exciting encounter with royalty. After drinks at a nightclub, the group returned to Maxwell’s home, where the abuse occurred.

Giuffre portrays Andrew as outwardly polite yet detached, treating the encounter as routine and transactional. She notes that he appeared to view sexual access to her as a prerogative tied to his royal status—an unspoken entitlement that came with his title and position. The interaction, she writes, felt mechanical and devoid of genuine connection; afterward, he offered a casual thank-you, reinforcing the sense that she was merely an object in his world.

The memoir includes references to the now-infamous 2001 photograph of Andrew with his arm around the teenage Giuffre, Maxwell smiling in the background—a snapshot that became central evidence in her civil case against him. Giuffre emphasizes the broader pattern: how Epstein’s network thrived on the silence and complicity of those in power, who knew her age yet participated or looked away.

Throughout the book, she reflects on the lasting psychological damage—the isolation, shame, and distrust that followed her escape from the operation. She also credits her eventual decision to speak out publicly as an act of reclaiming agency, despite intense backlash and threats.

Andrew has consistently denied any sexual contact with Giuffre or knowledge of her being underage. In 2022, he settled her U.S. civil lawsuit for an undisclosed amount without accepting liability, later stepping back from public royal duties.

Published after her tragic passing, Nobody’s Girl stands as both a survivor’s testimony and a final demand for accountability. It exposes the mechanics of elite sex trafficking and the ways privilege can shield perpetrators, ensuring Giuffre’s voice continues to challenge those who once dismissed her claims.
