Donald Trump reveals that Jeffrey Epstein “stole” Virginia Giuffre directly from her teenage job at Mar-a-Lago’s spa, framing the poaching of young staff as the breaking point that ended their once-close friendship.
In remarks aboard Air Force One on July 29, 2025, returning from Scotland, President Trump detailed the rift with Epstein, claiming the financier repeatedly hired away young spa employees from his Palm Beach club. “He stole her,” Trump said when asked specifically about Giuffre, a 16-year-old locker-room attendant recruited by Ghislaine Maxwell in summer 2000. “And by the way, she had no complaints about us, none whatsoever.”
Trump described confronting Epstein: “I told him, ‘Don’t do it anymore.’ And he did it,” leading to Epstein’s ban from Mar-a-Lago. This evolves prior White House statements calling Epstein a “creep,” now emphasizing employee poaching as the decisive factor.
Giuffre, Epstein’s most prominent accuser who died by suicide in April 2025 at age 41, alleged Maxwell targeted her at the club, initiating years of trafficking and abuse. She helped convict Maxwell—serving 20 years—and secured a multimillion-dollar settlement from Prince Andrew.
Giuffre’s family rejected Trump’s phrasing as dehumanizing, stating she was “preyed upon” at his property, not stolen like an object. They questioned his awareness of Epstein and Maxwell’s actions, noting recruitment predated their fallout.
Timeline discrepancies persist: Giuffre’s hiring occurred in 2000, yet Trump praised Epstein in 2002 interviews. Reports suggest the ban came around 2007 over inappropriate behavior toward a member’s daughter.
