Following the December 23, 2025, release of nearly 30,000 pages of Jeffrey Epstein documents—the most substantial batch yet—the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) issued a pointed statement vigorously defending President Donald Trump. The files, part of ongoing phased disclosures under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, contain hundreds of references to Trump, including flight logs confirming at least eight trips on Epstein’s private jet in the 1990s, often with family members or Ghislaine Maxwell.

The DOJ emphasized that no evidence in the materials points to any wrongdoing by Trump. In a rare public post on social media, the department warned that some documents include “untrue and sensationalist claims” against the president, submitted to the FBI shortly before the 2020 election. “To be clear: the claims are unfounded and false,” the statement read, noting that credible allegations would have been “weaponized” politically long ago.

Trump’s mentions largely stem from archived news clippings, investigative notes on their 1990s social ties in Palm Beach and New York, and raw tips—many unverified. Prosecutors’ emails highlight the flights but stress no implication of misconduct. Trump banned Epstein from Mar-a-Lago in the mid-2000s after concerns about his behavior, a fact reiterated by White House officials who dismissed scrutiny as partisan.

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche affirmed the administration’s commitment to transparency, stating no efforts were made to redact Trump’s name. Victims’ advocates welcomed the volume but criticized heavy redactions protecting privacy.

With over 5.2 million pages total under review, releases continue into 2026. The DOJ’s swift defense underscores that while Epstein’s network touched elites, no new accusations tarnish Trump.
