Jeffrey Epstein’s unearthed 2011 email casually affirms that Prince Andrew did pose for a photo with Virginia Giuffre, directly contradicting years of royal claims that the image was fake or manipulated.

The email, written by Epstein on July 12, 2011, and unsealed in November 2025 as part of a congressional release of previously withheld documents, responds to concerns raised by Ghislaine Maxwell about emerging media coverage. In it, the convicted sex offender writes matter-of-factly: “Yes she was on my plane and yes she had her picture taken with Andrew, as many of my employees have.” The “she” refers to Virginia Roberts Giuffre, then 17, who alleged Epstein and Maxwell trafficked her to the prince on multiple occasions.
This blunt confirmation demolishes Prince Andrew’s repeated assertions that he had no recollection of ever meeting Giuffre and his insinuations that the famous 2001 photograph—showing him with his arm around her waist while Maxwell smiles in the background—could have been doctored. During his infamous 2019 BBC Newsnight interview, Andrew claimed he had “no memory” of the photo being taken and pointed to alleged inconsistencies, such as his hand placement and the fact he was not typically “sweaty” enough to match Giuffre’s description of their nightclub encounter that night.
The photograph, taken in Maxwell’s London townhouse in March 2001, became public in February 2011 when it appeared alongside Giuffre’s first major accusations. Epstein’s email, sent just months later, shows he was actively monitoring the fallout and attempting to manage narratives around his high-profile associates.
Further correspondence in the unsealed batch reveals Andrew—using pseudonymous email accounts—urging Epstein and Maxwell in early 2011 to publicly deny any inappropriate relationship as stories began circulating. This occurred despite Andrew’s public claim that he had fully severed ties with Epstein after the financier’s 2008 conviction.
Giuffre, who settled her civil lawsuit against Andrew in 2022 for an undisclosed sum (with no admission of liability), detailed the encounter in her posthumous memoir Nobody’s Girl (October 2025). She described being coerced into sex with the prince that evening after the photo was taken.
Epstein’s casual acknowledgment in 2011—”as many of my employees have”—also implies the photo was routine, part of a pattern where young women in his orbit were photographed with powerful guests. Though Giuffre tragically took her own life in April 2025 at age 41, her allegations, now corroborated by Epstein’s own words, continue to erode the denials that once shielded elite figures.
The email serves as undeniable evidence: the meeting happened, the photo is authentic, and the prince’s defenses have collapsed under the weight of the predator’s own admission.
