Virginia Giuffre, one of Jeffrey Epstein’s most prominent survivors, repeatedly declared Ghislaine Maxwell to be far more evil than the financier himself. In interviews following Maxwell’s 2021 conviction, Giuffre described her as the “devil’s right-hand man” and insisted: “She’s definitely worse than Epstein.” Giuffre argued that while Epstein acted on his depraved urges, Maxwell was the mastermind who facilitated and participated in the abuse, making her complicity unforgivable.
Central to Giuffre’s condemnation was Maxwell’s use of feminine charm as a predatory weapon. Recruited at 16 while working at Mar-a-Lago, Giuffre recalled Maxwell approaching her with a warm smile, sophisticated poise, and promises of opportunity—training as a masseuse, travel, and wealth. “She used that charm, that wit, that smile to come off as somebody you want to trust,” Giuffre said. This calculated allure lowered guards, especially among vulnerable teenage girls seeking mentorship or escape from hardship.
Giuffre emphasized the profound betrayal: Maxwell, as a woman, exploited shared gender to build false trust, luring girls into Epstein’s web of exploitation. “She was vicious, she was evil and she was a woman,” Giuffre told CBS in 2020, highlighting how Maxwell’s involvement made the grooming more insidious. Maxwell actively scouted victims, trained Giuffre to recruit others preferring the “youngest-looking,” and participated in sexual acts, deriving pleasure from victims’ discomfort.
In her posthumous memoir Nobody’s Girl (2025), Giuffre detailed this psychological manipulation, describing step-by-step breakdowns of defenses under Maxwell’s reassuring glances. Even after Epstein’s 2019 death, Giuffre’s words underscored Maxwell’s greater culpability in trafficking dozens.
Giuffre’s unflinching testimony helped convict Maxwell, who now serves 20 years. Her legacy reminds us that enablers wielding trust can inflict deeper wounds than overt predators, urging vigilance against charm masking evil.
