In a chilling excerpt that echoes unflinchingly from the grave, Virginia Giuffre recounts the deceptive glamour of a steaming summer day in 2000 at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, where a 16-year-old spa attendant clutching an anatomy book was spotted by the elegant Ghislaine Maxwell—setting off a chain of events that plunged her into Jeffrey Epstein’s predatory world.T

In the pages of her posthumous memoir Nobody’s Girl: A Memoir of Surviving Abuse and Fighting for Justice, published in October 2025, Virginia Giuffre’s voice resonates with unflinching clarity as she revisits the pivotal summer day in 2000 that changed her life forever. At just 16, working as a spa attendant at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida—a job secured through her father’s maintenance role there—Giuffre was dreaming of a future as a professional masseuse.

One steaming hot afternoon, weeks before her 17th birthday, Giuffre was walking toward the spa, clutching a book on anatomy jammed with sticky notes, when a car slowed behind her. Unbeknownst to her, inside sat British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell and her driver, Juan Alessi (whom Maxwell called “John”). Alessi later testified that Maxwell spotted Giuffre’s long blond hair, slim build, and youthful appearance, commanding him to stop. Maxwell exited the car and followed the teenager into the spa.

Giuffre, then going by Jenna, was at the marble front desk when the elegantly dressed woman approached. “Hello,” she said warmly, extending a manicured hand. “Ghislaine Maxwell,” she introduced herself, pronouncing it “Giilen.” To the awestruck teen, Maxwell seemed mesmerizing—poised, beautiful, with a British accent reminiscent of Mary Poppins. “I’d be lucky, I thought, if I could grow up to be anything like her,” Giuffre wrote, reflecting on her naive admiration.

Spotting the anatomy book, Maxwell inquired about Giuffre’s interest in massage. She explained she knew a wealthy longtime Mar-a-Lago member seeking a traveling massage therapist. No experience necessary—he would train her. Excited at the prospect, Giuffre agreed to an interview that very afternoon. Her father drove her to Epstein’s nearby mansion, less than two miles away.

What began as a seemingly innocent opportunity quickly turned sinister. In a room lined with photos of nude women, a naked Epstein lay on the massage table. Maxwell instructed Giuffre on technique, but the session escalated into sexual abuse involving both. “Unlike others who had abused me, this was an apex predator,” Giuffre described Maxwell—as greedy and demanding inside as she appeared polished outside.

This deceptive encounter marked Giuffre’s entry into Epstein and Maxwell’s trafficking ring, enduring years of exploitation before escaping in 2002. Her memoir preserves this raw account, underscoring how predators exploit vulnerability. Though Giuffre tragically died by suicide in April 2025 at 41, her words demand accountability, inspiring survivors and exposing the dangers lurking behind facades of wealth and charm.
