On July 6, 2019, FBI agents raided Jeffrey Epstein’s opulent Upper East Side townhouse in New York City, uncovering evidence that underscored the depth of his alleged sex trafficking operation. Deep inside a fifth-floor dressing room closet, agents located a heavy locked safe. Unable to open it on site, they used a power saw to breach it, revealing a trove of incriminating and suspicious items.

The safe contained stacks of U.S. cash totaling over $70,000, dozens of loose diamonds (including 48 stones valued highly), jewelry, a fraudulent foreign passport bearing Epstein’s photo but a different name (expired from the 1980s and listing Saudi Arabia as residence), multiple passports, hard drives, and compact discs (CDs). Prosecutors later described these as part of an “extraordinary volume” of materials linked to Epstein’s crimes.

While the safe held some CDs and hard drives, the most disturbing finds were elsewhere in the mansion: numerous black binders filled with meticulously labeled CDs, each accompanied by thumbnail photos. Handwritten labels included chilling phrases like “Young [Name] + [Name],” “Misc nudes 1,” and “Girl pics nude.” FBI analysis confirmed these discs contained thousands of nude or partially nude photographs of young women and girls, some appearing underage, including identified minors.

These images, seized from closets, drawers, and a dedicated massage room, painted a picture of systematic documentation. Agents also found plastic bins of additional hard drives and more CDs throughout the 40-room, 21,000-square-foot property. Curiously, some initial safe contents were photographed but temporarily “missing” when agents returned with a warrant, only to be returned later by Epstein’s lawyer.

The raid’s revelations, testified to during Ghislaine Maxwell’s 2021 trial, fueled questions about blackmail and Epstein’s elite network. Though Epstein died by suicide weeks later, the evidence highlighted his predatory patterns, leaving victims seeking justice amid ongoing scrutiny.
