Recently released documents from the U.S. Department of Justice have shed new light on the relationship between President Donald Trump and the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. A key revelation comes from a January 2020 email by an assistant U.S. attorney in New York, stating that flight records show Trump traveled on Epstein’s private jet “many more times than previously has been reported (or that we were aware).”
According to the email, Trump is listed as a passenger on at least eight flights between 1993 and 1996. These included domestic routes, primarily between Palm Beach, Florida, and New York-area airports. On at least four of these flights, Epstein’s associate Ghislaine Maxwell—currently serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking—was also aboard. Family members, such as Trump’s then-wife Marla Maples, son Eric, and daughter Tiffany, accompanied him on some trips.

One flight in 1993 reportedly had only Trump and Epstein as passengers. Another listed just three: Trump, Epstein, and a redacted 20-year-old woman. Two additional flights included women described as potential witnesses in a prospective case against Maxwell.
These details emerged in a massive tranche of nearly 30,000 pages released on December 23, 2025, as part of ongoing disclosures related to Epstein’s investigations. Prior public knowledge, drawn from logs introduced in Maxwell’s 2021 trial, indicated around seven flights in the 1990s, often with family.
The revelations have reignited scrutiny of Trump and Epstein’s once-close social ties in the 1990s New York and Palm Beach circles. Trump has long distanced himself, stating in 2024 that he “was never on Epstein’s Plane” and denying any knowledge of Epstein’s crimes. He banned Epstein from Mar-a-Lago after a reported falling-out in the early 2000s.
Importantly, the documents contain no allegations of wrongdoing by Trump. The Justice Department emphasized that some files include “untrue and sensationalist claims” against him. No evidence links Trump to Epstein’s island or criminal activities.
These files raise fresh questions about the extent of their association but stop short of implicating Trump in any misconduct. As more documents are expected, the public debate over elite connections to Epstein continues.
