In a bombshell interview published in December 2025, former Metropolitan Correctional Center inmate “John Doe” (name withheld for safety) has shattered the official narrative surrounding Jeffrey Epstein’s death. Having been housed on the same Special Housing Unit tier as Epstein in the summer of 2019, the ex-convict claims he witnessed routine violations of protocol and heard chilling details that point to a deliberate cover-up.

Doe describes a jail in chaos: guards routinely skipped required checks, cameras were “conveniently” offline, and Epstein’s cellmate was transferred out the day before his death—against explicit orders. “They knew he was high-risk,” Doe told independent journalist Julie K. Brown. “Yet they left him alone. That doesn’t happen by accident.”
The most explosive claim concerns the night of August 9. Doe says he was awake in a nearby cell when, around 10:40 p.m., he heard footsteps and saw an orange-clad figure—possibly an inmate in a jumpsuit—ascending the staircase toward Epstein’s tier. Crucially, he insists the figure never returned. “I watched that staircase all night,” he said. “No one came back down. The guards were asleep or gone.”
Doe alleges that after Epstein was found dead, the unit was locked down and inmates were threatened with retaliation if they spoke. He claims corrections officers immediately began removing evidence, including linens and personal items, before the FBI arrived. “They cleaned that scene like it was a crime they needed to erase,” he said.
While the DOJ’s 2023 Inspector General report and 2025 memo insist no foul play occurred, Doe’s account aligns with newly released surveillance stills showing the mysterious orange figure and corroborates expert criticism of the shoddy forensic processing. He accuses
