In late March 2025, Virginia Roberts Giuffre—the prominent accuser of Jeffrey Epstein and Prince Andrew—sparked global concern with an Instagram post claiming she had suffered life-threatening injuries in a car crash. The 41-year-old alleged a school bus struck her vehicle at high speed, causing kidney failure and leaving her with just “four days to live.” She shared a photo from her hospital bed showing visible bruising, describing the incident as catastrophic.

However, Western Australia Police quickly characterized the event differently. On March 24, in rural Neergabby north of Perth, a school bus collided with a car driven by a 71-year-old woman, with Giuffre as passenger. The bus driver reported the “minor crash” the next day, noting approximately $2,000 in damage to the car but “no reported injuries.” No officers attended the scene initially, and authorities confirmed no ambulance was dispatched or serious harm recorded at the time.
Giuffre’s family countered in statements, asserting she was “banged up and bruised,” returned home initially, but her condition worsened, leading to hospitalization in “serious” though stable care. They explained police were called but unavailable to respond immediately, and the bus driver prioritized distressed children onboard before filing a report.
The bus driver, Ross Munns, later disputed Giuffre’s account, calling it “blown out of proportion.” He described a low-impact sideswipe during an overtaking maneuver, unaware Giuffre was even in the vehicle. Parents of children on the bus echoed this, reporting no trauma to passengers and minimal damage.
Sources close to the situation confirmed Giuffre was hospitalized in Perth but not in life-threatening condition. Bruising was evident, though questions arose whether all injuries stemmed solely from the crash. Amid personal struggles—including a separation and custody issues—Giuffre’s post was said to have been intended privately.
This incident, occurring weeks before her tragic suicide on April 25, 2025, highlighted ongoing vulnerabilities for the survivor who courageously exposed Epstein’s network. Her 2022 settlement with Andrew (denying wrongdoing) and posthumous memoir amplified her voice against elite abuse. Yet the contrasting narratives—police downplaying a “minor” event versus her dire claims—underscored lingering doubts and the profound toll on victims long after scandals fade.
