Maxwell Breaks Silence: DOJ Releases Rare Post-Conviction Interview Transcript
A stunned world froze as the Justice Department released Ghislaine Maxwell’s July 2025 interview transcript on August 22—her first public words since her 2021 conviction—naming celebrities like Elon Musk, Naomi Campbell, Kevin Spacey, Sarah Ferguson, and Larry Summers as mere friends or acquaintances, while steadfastly denying any wrongdoing on their part in Epstein’s crimes.

The 337-page redacted transcript and accompanying audio, from a two-day session (July 24-25) conducted by Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche at FCI Tallahassee, marked an extraordinary post-conviction interview under limited immunity. Maxwell, serving 20 years for sex trafficking minors, answered questions about Epstein’s vast network, repeatedly minimizing connections and rejecting allegations of broader complicity.
Pressed on high-profile associates, Maxwell described:
- Elon Musk: Met briefly at a party and Oscars event; no deeper relationship.
- Naomi Campbell: Independent friendship with Epstein; may have visited properties.
- Kevin Spacey: Likely met on a flight but did not visit Epstein’s island or homes.
- Sarah Ferguson (Duchess of York): Longstanding personal friendship unrelated to Epstein.
- Larry Summers: Social and possible business ties, no travel to island recalled.
She insisted these were innocent acquaintances, echoing denials for figures like Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, and Prince Andrew. Maxwell also rejected the existence of a “client list” or blackmail material, while praising President Trump as “a gentleman in all respects” with no observed inappropriate behavior.
The release, touted by Blanche as “in the interest of transparency,” followed backlash over Epstein file delays. Victims’ advocates decried it as platforming a convicted trafficker without rigorous challenge, especially after Maxwell’s subsequent transfer to a minimum-security Texas camp.
As appeals continue and more files emerge, Maxwell’s words—calm, detailed, unyielding—reignite debates over credibility, elite insulation, and justice deferred in Epstein’s enduring shadow.
