The November 16, 2019, Newsnight broadcast, conducted by Emily Maitlis, became a global spectacle as Andrew denied meeting Giuffre, questioned the authenticity of their 2001 photo (his arm around her waist, Maxwell beside them), and offered the bizarre alibi of being at Pizza Express in Woking on the alleged London assault night. “I have a peculiar medical condition which is that I don’t sweat,” he said, attributing it to a Falklands overdose of adrenaline. Giuffre’s response came in her December 2, 2019, BBC Panorama interview: “The people on the inside are going to keep coming up with ridiculous excuses… He knows exactly what he’s done.” Her unflinching testimony—detailing three alleged assaults at age 17—contrasted Andrew’s evasions, her eyes fierce as she challenged his denials.
The exchange, resurfaced amid Giuffre’s posthumous memoir Nobody’s Girl (October 21, 2025), prompted Andrew’s title revocation on October 30, 2025. As Epstein files unseal by December 19 under the Transparency Act, the 2019 clash endures: Andrew’s sweatless alibi versus Giuffre’s blazing truth—a duel where only one side prevailed.
